Catherine Ramirez, 86, of Moline, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at her home.
Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, where she was a member. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.
The former Catherine S. Solis was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Silvis. She married Frank Ramirez. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ramirez was employed at Lingui Systems, East Moline. She also had worked at the former Buddy L. Toys and WHBF and had served as a crossing guard at Seton Catholic School and Ericsson School.
Catherine was a former member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Silvis, and St. Monica Atlar Society, as well as a former member of St. Mary's Church, Moline, and St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of East Moline VFW Auxiliary Post 8890 and the American G.I. Forum. She enjoyed reading, cooking and watching baseball, tennis and game shows on TV.
Survivors include daughters, Maria Solis and Paula Ramos, both of Moline, and Francesca and son-in-law, Dr. Adrian Robichaud, Nova Scotia, Canada; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Joyce Solis, Silvis. There are nine grandchildren, among whom is her grandson and caregiver, Jose Ramirez, Moline; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Anthony Soliz, Davenport. Also surviving are special friends, Aurora Navarro and Marion Duarte. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson.
