Darlene VanDeWalle Obituary


Darlene F. VanDeWalle, 84, of Moline, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2017 at Amber Ridge, Moline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.

Darlene was born May 20, 1933 in Moline, the daughter of William and Lucille (Singer) Cotter. She married Donald B. VanDeWalle in 1954 in Moline. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2007.

Darlene was a homemaker, also a dedicated hard-worker at Bituminous and saleswoman in the clothing industry until she was 80 years old.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Moline and enjoyed gardening, volunteering and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn (nee VanDeWalle) & Matt Widdel, Sherrard and Laurie (nee VanDeWalle) & Mike Zimmerman, Davenport; sons, Don VanDeWalle, Dallas, TX and Ron VanDeWalle, Moline; grandchildren, Justin (Lindsay) Hoggard, East Moline and Laura Fuller, Peoria; sisters, Joan Bledsoe, Sun City, AZ and Carol Cashion, Carbon Cliff. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Trinity Hospice and Amber Ridge Assisted Living for taking such wonderful care of their mother.
