Fay C. Lawrence, 97, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Moline, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019, at her residence.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 8, 2019 from 4 – 7 p.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline, IL. Memorials may be given to Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center.
Fay was born on November 14, 1921 Genoa, NE, the daughter of Elgin Leslie and Lena Gertrude (Nelson) Kissell. She married Arthur D. Lawrence on October 12, 1940 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2002.
Her hobbies included being a talented crocheter, embroiderer and gardener. Fay arranged her flower garden to be so uniquely beautiful she was recognized by local papers and magazines. She learned to be a hard working child and mother at an early age. This work ethic started with her mother relying on young Fay to complete household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and various household chores. Fay was a reliable and loving rock for her family, friends and neighbors; dependable for her guidance and love.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Mae Sewell, Sarasota, FL; sons, Brian Lawrence, Kemp, TX and Kurt (DeReva) Lawrence, Newton, KS; grandchildren: Karyn, David, Robert, Vicky, Brian, Jr., Leia, Abe, Jon, Ryun and Bobby; 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, infant daughter, Judy Diane, son-in-law, Gary Sewell, and daughter-in-law, Christine Lawrence.
