Max Dooley Obituary

Max U. Dooley, Jr., 62, of Sherrard, died Wednesday, September 20, 2005 at Trinity Medical Center West, Rock Island.


Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2005 at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Canfield Cemetery, Ivy, IA. Memorials may be made to Sherrard Fire and Ambulance Service.


Mr. Dooley was born December 21, 1942, in Colfax, IA the son of Max U., Sr. and Rose Margaret Johnson Dooley. He married Becky Blackford in June 1968 in Des Moines, IA. Max later married Sharon Malaney on June 23, 1977 in Aledo, IL.


Max Retired in 2003 from the former Case IH New Holland, East Moline as an Expeditor.


Mr. Dooley was a member of UAW Local. He enjoyed cooking, yardwork, gardening, and traveling.

Survivors include his loving wife Sharon; sons and daughter-in-law Tom and Kelly Dooley of Johnston, IA and Todd Dooley of Bondurant, IA; grandchildren, Tony and Chelsea; sister Pat LaFarry of Des Moines; brother and sister-in-law Daniel and Sherry Dooley of Des Moines; aunt Iva Lee and Jim Cutler of Silvis; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law JoAnn and Tom Linnabary of Kiel, WI., Mary and Gary Stout of Rock Island, and Karen and Jim Winterland of Rochelle, IL.; many nieces and nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, and one nephew.
