Millie Nightingale Obituary

Millie B. Nightingale, 93, of Rock Island died Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Services are 10a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2005 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation is 4- 6p.m. Friday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Millie was born September 30, 1912 in Moline, IL, the daughter of George and Millie Magerkurth. She married John Henry Nightingale on September 3, 1933 in Dixon, IL. He preceded her in death in March 1977.

Mrs. Nightingale retired from Modern Woodmen of America as a clerk in the Accounting Department in 1977 after 30 years.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Saukie Ladies Golf League. Millie enjoyed sewing, golfing, swimming class and church guild, spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter Joyce Carr and her fiancé Marvin Halstead, Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Peggy Nightingale, Rock Island; 8 grandchildren and spouses, Lisa and Steven Gonabe, Karen and Bob Sloan, Karla and Mark Wangler, Mindy and Kyle Cogdill, Tom and Rhonda Schweska, Sue Lang, Michael Schweska and John Schweska; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and George Rubey of Ft. Thomas, KY.
