Steve Sharnik, 92, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2018, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation is Friday, July 13, from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island, where the Moline American Legion, Post 246 will conduct military rites. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church.
Steve was born March 21, 1926, in Mocanaqua, PA, the son of Joseph & Marie (Tinus) Sharnik. He married Alberta G. Wisor on November 28, 1958, in Davenport, IA. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2009.
He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.
Steve was employed at John Deere as a Foreman in the Tool Department, retiring in 1983.
Steve was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Sacred Heart Resurrection Choir. He was proud to have been a graduate of Penn State University and enjoyed playing golf in earlier years.
Survivors include his son, Steve S. Sharnik, of Tampa, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
