William F. Quaintance, 83, of Moline, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at his home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 29, 2005, 9:30 a.m. at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is Monday 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home, where a Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post 246 will conduct military rites. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church or Arrowhead Ranch, Coal Valley.
Bill was born August 1, 1922, in Rock Island, the son of William H. and Mary A. Thiele Quaintance. He married A. Patricia (Patty) Bragdon on January 12, 1946 in Rock Island.
Mr. Quaintance was a Navy veteran, having served during WWII.
Bill graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree and also earned a B.S. from the Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y.
Mr. Quaintance was self employed in the construction industry for 22 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Moline, Short Hills Country Club, East Moline, Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club, Lake Davenport Sailing Club, Lindsay Park Yacht Club and Te Deum Speaking Group. He enjoyed yachting, tennis and biking.
Survivors include his wife, Patty; daughter, Maura A. Quaintance, Iowa City; sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin A. and Gay Quaintance, Germantown, TN, Louis T. and Jean Quaintance, Berkley, CA and William E. Quaintance, Minneapolis, MN; 5 grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James T. Quaintance.
