Joseph "Joe" G. Keenon, 60, of Moline, IL, formerly of Burlington, IL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at UnityPoint Health, Trinity Rock Island, with his family by his side. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17th at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, followed by a visitation until 4 p.m.
Joe was born January 17, 1962, in Maywood, IL, the son of Gerald J. and Catherine M. (Zick) Keenon.
He married Tracy A. Malm on February 19, 1983, in Glen Ellyn, IL. They were married for 39 years and had 2 children, Jeramiah J. Keenon and Candice M. (Keenon) DeRoo. Over the last few years, Joe and Tracy lived apart, although they remained very close and helped each other navigate through many of life's obstacles.
Joseph was a well-loved, kind soul, who much like his parents, took pride in helping others time and time again. He loved to meet new people and was quick to make new friends. He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his Harley, the Chicago Bears, NASCAR, county music, and a good home cooked meal. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson Dylan. He had a very mechanical mind and enjoyed the challenge of fixing just about anything. He loved to share the knowledge he gained over the years with others. Joe will be deeply missed by his family and those people whose lives he touched.
Surviving family includes his wife, Tracy Keenon; daughter, Candice (Jeffrey) DeRoo; grandson, Dylan DeRoo; sisters, Kathy (Ronald) Carlson, Judith (Robert) Krajecki; brothers, Charles (Suzanne) Keenon, Paul (Jill) Keenon, Kevin (Kim) Keenon, and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death and welcomed in heaven by his mother, Catherine Keenon, his father, Gerald Keenon, his brothers Terrance and Kenneth Keenon, and his recently deceased son, Jeramiah Keenon.
Joe was surrounded by his wife, daughter, and son-in-law when he departed this world. Before he passed, he and his family were able to share their love and final thoughts with each other which was a wonderful gift.
