Mary JoAnn Cruse, 84, formerly of Moline, passed away February 8th, 2022, at Covenant Care in Pensacola FL. A Graveside Service and Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 30th, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 2301 3rd Street, East Moline, IL. Fr. Matthew Cole of Sacred Heart Church, Moline, is officiating. DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, is handling arrangements.
Mary “Jo” Ann was born June 28th, 1937, in Sioux City, IA the daughter of Peter and Agnus LeCroix. She graduated nursing training in 1958 and worked at Saint Vincent Hospital when she met the love of her life and soulmate, Bobbie Cruse. They married on July 11th, 1959, in Silvis, IL. They moved to Moline, IL where she worked as an RN at Lutheran Hospital and raised 5 children. On June 11th, 1991, the light that once flickered in her eyes dimmed as the love of her life passed away. Even though that light increased with the birth of every grandchild, and great-grandchild, it never shined as bright as it once did with Bob.
Mary “Jo” Ann moved to Pace FL in 2019 to live with her 2 daughters and son-in-law. There she was able to enjoy the beautiful warm sunshine state. She loved listening to the birds and watching the wildlife roam in and out of the back yard. She spent most of her days enjoying the constant laughter and good home cooked meals.
Mary “Jo” Ann is survived by her five (5) children and their spouses, Michele Drayer of Pace, FL; James and Jill Cruse, Rock Island; John and Kari Powell, Pace FL; David and Sharon Cruse, Chicago, IL; and Patrick Cruse, Myrtle Beach, SC. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bobbie, brothers Francis and Peter, and sisters Marie, Helen and Norma.
Although we are heart broken and mourn the loss of such a beautiful spirit, we know without a doubt that her eyes are shining as bright as ever to finally be back with the love of her life.
