Richard Leroy Durey, 82, of Moline, passed away Friday, August 19, 2022, at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, IL. Visitation is 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m.  Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to American Suicide Prevention Foundation or the St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus,

Richard was born March 4, 1940, in Manchester, IA. He married Ann M. Hitzler on October 13, 1962, at St. Patrick’s Church, Dubuque, IA.

He was a dedicated, hard-working man and had been employed as a woodworker, foundry worker, then a supervisor and foreman at IH Farmall. He later drove a truck for Loffredo Fresh Foods, Davenport. Richard was a former member of St. Ambrose Church and Knights of Columbus, He was a skilled bowler and NASCAR enthusiast, especially Jeff Gordon.

He will be missed by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Ann; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jeff Shaw; son, Rick Durey; daughter, Lisa Durey; granddaughter, Jaclyn (Josh) Daupert; sisters, Phyllis and Lorraine and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Caiden, Lucas and Rylee.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona, sisters, Donna Gayle and Marilyn; brothers, Robert and Donald “Sonny”, grandson, Michael and brother-in-law, Joe. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.deroofuneralhome.com
