He was born February 19, 1960, in Moline, the son of William and Ruth Ledbetter. Richard was joined in marriage to Debora Leitner on February 6, 1999.

He was a talented technical illustrator, especially with pen and ink. He recently retired from Almon, Inc., having previously worked at Pace, Inc., Nomura Enterprises, and JTM Concepts.

He worked with many of the same people in all of these endeavors, and built many strong, long-lasting friendships. He was a devoted pet parent, spoiling all of his many cats and dogs.

Richard was an artist & craftsman and enjoyed working in his workshop and home studio. He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed making people laugh.
