Rochelle Carlson

Rochelle Laura Carlson, 79, of Orion, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Genesis Medical Center - Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Funeral services are 12 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation is Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Private family interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to QC Haven of Hope.


Rochelle was born and raised in Rock Island, IL the daughter of Russell and Laura (Peel) Hocker. At age 17 and Senior Year of high school she moved and graduated from Moline High School. Directly out of high school she worked at Modern Woodman and John Deere Industrial Works. She married and later divorced.


Later in life she earned her degree and graduated with honors from Black Hawk College. She then began her career at Black Hawk College in Administration where she was nominated for "who's who" by the faculty.  She then worked at Scott community College where she retired.


She loved spending time with her family, she cared so deeply about. In her free time she enjoyed planting and being in her flower gardens. 


Rochelle will be deeply missed by her 3 children: Keith and Jackie Carlson (Denver, North Carolina), Laura and Mike Lewsader (Geneseo,IL), Beth and Joshua Crisp (Cypress, TX); 10 grandchildren: Kyle, Cody, Hope, Breanna, Gage, Cole, Olivia, Justice, Jada and JD and 1 great-grandchild, Braden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russel and Laura Peel Hocker, sisters Jackie, Janice, twin brother Roscoe and cousin Pat.
