Velma Neels

Velma L. Neels, 98, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Visitation is 9 - 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at DeRoo Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the QC Haven of Hope Shelter.

Velma was born February 18, 1923 in Robbins, TN, the daughter of R. Asbury and Lottie (Redden) Clark. She married Robert "Bud" C. Neels January 23, 1943. He preceded her in death on November 3, 1978.  Velma enjoyed crossword puzzles and word search games.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Harris (Jeff Maretich), Coal Valley; late sons and surviving daughters-in-law, John (Sandy) Neels, Silvis, Michael (Alma) Neels, East Moline, Jerry (Sue) Neels, East Moline, and the late David Neels; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, sons, parents, sisters; Naomi, Francis, Lucy and brothers; Forrest, Willy, Herman, Ralph, Robert, , Glenn, and Floyd and grandchildren, Bobby and Tammy.
